Wyre and Fylde Children, Young People and Families Forum

The forum met again on 10th September and have now agreed their action plan and terms of reference. We have also completed a members profile and will be including this information in any literature that we produce. We are currently developing a structure diagram of the Lancashire Children's Trust groups and how they link and will be sharing this information once it has been produced. We have also developed a new logo for the forum.

If you would like to be part of this group please let me know

Thanks

Jane
Age UK Blackpool and District are looking for volunteers to support clients Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre (especially in the Freckleton/Warton area of the Fylde coast) to help with our Assisted Shopping Service. The role would involve supporting clients to do their shopping – this could be linking arms with the client, pushing a wheelchair, helping them with items in their trolley or just providing company during their shop etc. Due to the nature of this role it is necessary to have a car available and a CRB check will be undertaken. If this sounds like something you may be interested in – please contact our main office on 01253 622812  or drop in  to see us at Age UK Blackpool and District , 89 Abingdon Street, Blackpool FY1 1PP.

Refurb

I attended the Reburb 10th Anniversary event last Friday and was absolutely amazed by the size of the venue and also the service on offer. Refurb collect (for free) any unwanted furniture items and then provide these (at a tiny cost) to anybody who is receiving benefits. Their warehouse is stacked with tables, chairs, settees, tv units, televisions, toys and electrical items. They even have a paint workshop where unused paint can be used by community groups for projects etc! They also have a repair workshop on site and all electrical items are PAT tested before they are put up for sale. The staff are wonderful and if you weren't aware of this service it is probably worth checking out their website on www.refurb.eclipse.co.uk
